IOMW
IOMW Mentoring Program
The IOMW 2018 conference will offer a new mentoring program designed to provide early career researchers (e.g., graduate students, post-docs, assistant professors), opportunities to interact with and receive advice from more-experienced researchers in the field of Rasch measurement.
Each Mentor will be paired with an early career researcher (“Mentee”) prior to the IOMW conference. Mentors and Mentees are encouraged to communicate and decide on a set of mentoring activities that can take place before, during, and after the IOMW conference.
Suggested activities include the following:
-
Mentor reads the Mentee’s IOMW conference paper prior to the conference
-
Mentors and Mentees meet on Skype/phone to discuss the paper and provide constructive feedback (about 1 hour maximum; this could also be done via email)
-
Mentor attends the Mentee’s presentation at IOMW
-
Mentors and Mentees meet at a scheduled time (arranged by the two of you) during the conference to provide additional feedback on the paper and presentation, and to discuss broader career-related topics
How to be a Mentee: If you are interested in being a mentee, please contact Stefanie Wind: swind@ua.edu. We will do our best to find a mentor for the accepted proposals by early career researchers.
How to be a Mentor: So far, we have 13 mentors. The more mentors we have, the more mentees can be served. If you are interested in being a mentor, please contact Stefanie Wind: swind@ua.edu.
